Verschillende vormen van geweld doen zich voor binnen het gezin, in relaties, in de openbare ruimte en ook in de professionele wereld. Dit geweld kan verschillende vormen aannemen: seksuele aanranding, verkrachting, psychologisch geweld, fysiek geweld, gedwongen huwelijken en seksuele verminking. Er is een hoog aantal moeder- en kindsterftes. Veel mensen hebben geen toegang tot kwalitatieve gezondheidszorg. Verschillende gezondheidscentra op het platteland hebben een tekort aan apparatuur en medicijnen. Bovendien is er onvoldoende zorg voor zowel besmettelijke als niet-overdraagbare chronische aandoeningen.
